Taxis at Palma de Mallorca Airport
Where is the taxi rank, how does the meter work, and when is it better value than the bus?
Taxis at Palma de Mallorca Airport
The taxi rank is just outside the terminal, in the arrivals area (ground floor), and no booking is required. It’s the quickest option: you leave the terminal and you’re on your way in a matter of minutes. However, for long journeys — to the north or east of the island — it works out expensive compared to the bus or a private transfer.
The Palma taxi goes via taxi meter, with fares set by the City Council. We do not publish a fixed price per destination because it depends on the route, the time of day and traffic conditions, and a made-up figure would be worse than none at all. It is about 8 km to the centre of Palma; to Playa de Palma, even less.
Frequently Asked Questions
There is no fixed price: the fare is calculated by the meter at the City Council’s regulated rate of Palma. It’s about 8 km to the city centre, so it’s a short journey; what you end up paying depends on the route, the time of day and whether there are any surcharges.
The beach area is very close to the airport, so the taxi fare is reasonable; whether you’re heading into town or to the beach, compare it with bus routes A1 and A2.
No. There is a taxi rank just outside the arrivals hall. Always take a taxi from the signposted rank and avoid anyone offering a taxi service outside that area.
